Die deutschen Idealisten waren der Auffassung, Kant habe mit seiner transzendentalen Umwälzung der Begründungsproblematik eine Revolution in der philosophischen Denkungsart in Gang gesetzt, die es weniger aufzuhalten als vielmehr dadurch zu vollbringen gelte, daß die Voraussetzungen oder ‚Fundamente‘ der Kantischen Philosophie selbst kritisch in den Blick genommen würden. This chapter examines how the edusemiotic understanding of education can be developed by utilizing certain notions arising from existential pedagogy and existential semiotics. Comparative vs. Transcendental Approaches to Justice: A Misleading Dichotomy in Sen'sThe Idea of Justice

This paper examines the distinction drawn by Amartya Sen between transcendental and comparative theories of justice, and its application to Rawls' doctrine. It then puts forward three arguments. First, it is argued that Sen offers a limited portrayal of Rawls' doctrine. This is the result of a rhetorical strategy that depicts Rawlsian doctrine as more “transcendental” than it really is. Although Sen deploys numerous quotations in support of his interpretation, it is possible to offer a less transcendental interpretation of Rawls. The specific topic of this chapter is the difference between the attempt in speculative and dialectical thinking on the one hand, and transcendental phenomenology on the other, to solve the enigmas presented by Kant’s transcendental deduction. The thesis is that they are diametrically opposed. The main concern is systematic and not philological-historical. Hegel’s Non-Metaphysical Idea of Freedom

the article explores the putatively non-metaphysical – non-voluntarist, and even non-causal – concept of freedom outlined in Hegel’s work and discusses its influential interpretation by robert Pippin as an ‘essentially practical’ concept. I argue that Hegel’s affirmation of freedom must be distinguished from that of Kant and Fichte, since it does not rely on a prior understanding of self-consciousness as an originally teleological relation and it has not the nature of a claim ‘from a practical point of view’.

It is commonly known that after the publication of Husserl’s Logical Investigations a great number of students from different countries came to Gottingen and, after 1916, to Freiburg to study phenomenology with Husserl. Among them were students from the Baltic states. The best-known of them, Avon Gurwitsch and Emmanuel Levinas, left their native country Lithuania to study and never came back. Their subsequent philosophical careers were connected with the United States and France, respectively. Quite different is the case of Husserl’s students from Latvia. Unlike E. Levinas and A. International audience; Blumenberg’s phenomenology of the history of concepts couldn’t overlook Kantian inventions to escape the dead ends of metaphysics. Kant constitutes a decisive help in mapping the ruptures of Modern Age. On the one hand, the cosmogonical essays of the precritical period illustrate reason’s typically modern self-assertion. On the other hand, the transcendental turn stands for a radicalization of Modern Age towards the Enlightenment. But Blumenberg also pays attention to what, in Kant, disturbs the modern project of reason’s self-authorization. Transcendental philosophy always calls for a new beginning, because it anticipates its possible failure.
